Dressing Your Nails
When we talk about makeup we place a lot of emphasis on face and tend to ignore other parts like nails, especially toe nails. Dressing up nails does not necessarily mean polishing it and using some nail art, it simply means paying attention to your nails and not ignoring it. A makeup is incomplete if your nails are shabby, unkept nails are a complete turn off and can ruin your personality.
Well maintained hand and toe nails not only add to your overall beauty but also boost your level of confidence. Not only our toe nails should be clean but also the feet should be soft and supple, since the feet is the most tortured part of our body. There is a lot of tension stored in the feet, not to mention the trauma of teetering around on high heels. Not just the feet but the nails are also exposed to environmental pollutants. The nails can become brittle or dry and split easily.
They need a treat from time to time, nothing works better than manicure and pedicure. We usually restrict ourself to a manicure and pedicure session once in a month but it is actually required more than once in a month. Depending on your lifestyle you should opt for a pedicure, specially during monsoons it is required more frequently. Apart from pedicure regular application of moisturisers is mandatory. Once in a while you can also soak your hands and feet in warm (not hot) water to which a few drops of Lavender and Geranium oil is added. These are aromatic oils and have soothing properties. As a regular practise you can also keep a nail brush in your bathroom and clean your nails everyday with little warm water and soap. Do not forget to moisturise after cleaning, the best time to use a nail brush is while bathing, you only spend a few minutes extra.
Another way of dressing up your nails is by using a nail buffer, it makes the nails extremely smooth and the shine is marvellous. It is a good way to take a break from nail paint. Excessive and continuous use of nail paint doesnt let your nail breathe as a result they become yellowish. Always give a break to your nails every 2 weeks, let them breathe and remember do not apply more than 2 coats of nail paint. Simplicity is the key to dress your nails, you can opt for French Manicure for a very natural look.
