WHEN DO YOU KNOW YOU HAVE LICE IN YOUR HAIR?
There are certain common symptoms that will make it evident that you have lice in your lovely tresses. You might have a feel of tickle as if something (lice) is moving in your head. Itchy scalp is the most common symptom along with the nits (eggs) of lice usually near the scalp or the nape of the neck area.
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
Clean the furniture of the infected person’s room with a disinfectant. Lice are transmitted through contact also. Wash the pillow covers, blankets along with complete bedding of the infected person. Lice are extremely tiny and crawly creatures that adhere to almost everything.
Soak the combs and hair brushes in warm water with anti-lice shampoo. This will kill the eggs which grow into lice.
Remove the nits (eggs) with the help of a lice comb and then shampoo your hair with a medicated anti-lice shampoo. Use shampoos which contain permethrin, an anti-lice chemical. After shampooing, again comb with a lice comb to remove the dead lice or remnant of nits.
ADVICE REGARDING PREVENTION
Never blow dry your hair after using an anti-lice solution or cream. These usually contain inflammable chemicals and can be harsh on the scalp. Do not use a pest control disinfectant on your hair to do away with lice. They can be extremely harmful. Do not itch your scalp harshly. This will cause irritation or even sores on the scalp.
