DIY Course In Hair Colouring
Are you saving up to get your hair highlighted at the salon? Well, you don’t have to wait anymore. With our Do-It-Yourself highlighting tricks you can colour your hair at home. Head to a wholesaler of beauty products and ask for pure colours, the ones that need to be mixed with peroxide. If you want funky colours like purpule or green, then you would need a pre-lightener to lighten your hair before colouring it. We share the different techniques of highlighting.
Weaving – This is the most common style of highlighting, it is also known as streaking. To highlight hair in this manner, take a box section of hair on top of the head, i.e. at the crown. Leave half an inch from the hairline and make a thin section using a tail comb. Now weave the hair like you would weave a cloth. Pick the hair above the tail if the comb and let go of the hair beneath. Place them on a piece of foil and apply colour. When covering your hair with foil, remember to close the section of hair from all sides, but don’t flatten the foil. The chemical requires some space to develop.
Slicing – This style of colouring is not so common. Take a box section of your hair in the centre of the head. Leave 2 inches from the front hairline to create this box. Now make thin horizontal sections within it. Colour every alternate section. You can even use two tones alternatively. This kind of colouring looks almost random when compared to weaving.
Be careful with the mixing of colours. Blend colour with peroxide in a creamy consistency and ensure that it’s free of bubbles. The number of volume you choose for the base would depend on the type of colouring you want. For instance, global colouring would need a Volume 20, while subtle highlights would need Volume 30 and prominent highlights would need Volume 40.
