Decoding Shampoo Myths

Hair care is of vital importance and shampooing is an essential part of hair care regime. It helps to keep the hair and scalp clean and maintains the health of your hair. However, there are many myths attached to the method of shampooing. There are many myths which have now turned into beliefs because of their popularity.

Here we throw some light on such shampooing myths.

1) Myth – Daily shampooing leads to hair loss.
Truth – Shampooing is only meant to clean the hair and scalp and will not cause any hair loss. Hair falls out because of its regular life cycle, when the hair passes through telogen phase, one experiences hair loss. Shampooing is not directly related to hair fall, though a wrong shampoo can cause hair loss. But daily shampooing will not lead to hair fall.

2) Myth – Your hair gets used to a certain brand.
Truth – Hair cannot get accustomed to a certain brand, hair is not alive. So you don’t have to change your shampoo and conditioner regularly to keep your hair healthy.

3) Myth – Lathering your shampoo is important.
Truth- It is not necessary to work up a huge lather with your shampoo, the foamy bubble are of no good. Lather doesn’t indicate that your shampoo is cleaning your hair, it your method of application that is important. You need to apply shampoo to the scalp to remove all impurities that are stuck on it.

4) Myth – Use baby shampoo since it is mild.
Truth – Some people believe that it is good to use baby shampoo because it is very gentle. The detergent in baby shampoo is very gentle and not designed for cleaning adult hair, especially when a lot of styling product is used on the hair. Like us, babies don’t have to travel so the chances of pollution getting into their scalp is Zero, you cannot use a baby product, it doesn’t work with your kind of lifestyle.
