Dealing With Hair Loss

Hair loss is a problem faced by men and women alike. Although not the most common among hair problems(dandruff ranks the highest), it is probably the most alarming. Not surprising, considering it could be quite an embarrassment.

The pattern of hair loss among women and men is different. While male hair loss is characterized mainly by receding hairlines starting at the forehead, nd also by a balding patch around the centre, female hair loss somewhat differs. It appears more as loss of hair around the parting, and the scalp becomes more prominent in these areas. It also looks a little like the thinning of hair, as the crown looks more dense and as the hair reaches the root, it appears more scanty.

The problem of hair loss can be treated at home with regular head massages and oil treatments initially. Dermatologists can also be consulted as they prescribe applications that can arrest hair fall. They will also be able to analyse if there are any other physiological factors that might be contributing to the hair loss.
Salons also offer treatments for hair loss. Mild currents are passed through combs through the hair to stimulate follicles, and thereby restore hair growth.

What can be one at home to help arrest these problems is to lead a disciplined routine. Adequate balanced meals that include iron, fibre and fluid intakes are vital. Equally important is sufficient rest and sleep, and reduced levels of stress. Avoiding smoking and exposure to dust and sunlight are also healthy ways of protecting the hair, and reducing hair fall.

Simple remedies like the use of aloe vera gel, mixtures of curd and lemon, and the use of mild shampoos are also beneficial. The more healthy and clean the hair is, the more the chances of hair loss are reduced.
There is, luckily, a cure for almost all ills with increased awareness today. Let not hair loss deter you, or make you lose confidence. It’s not the end of the world.
