Dandruff Care
Almost 50% of the population world over is affected by dandruff at some time or the other in their life cycle. Dandruff is caused due to various reasons, some of them would be stress, sudden change in climate or diet, scalp infection, puberty and usage of certain drugs.
The formation of dandruff occurs when the outermost layer of the skin i.e. epidermis has a cluster of dead cells which are prematurely shed by the scalp skin. The epidermis is made up of layers of hardened dead cells and covers the entire scalp. When a new cell is born inside the epidermis, it hardens and dies in 28 days and moves up towards the outer layer of the skin.
These cells are not visible to the eyes and you will not notice these dead skin cells, however, in dandruff conditions the cycle of 28 days is not completed and the cells are discarded much earlier. This condition becomes tricky if you have an oily scalp and dry hair. The dead skin cells stick on the scalp due to secretion of oil and clog the hair follicles, thus the oil cannot travel down the hair shaft, leaving your hair dry.
Dandruff can be cured medically with clinical treatment, consult a dermatologist. However, you can treat dandruff with alternate medicine like Aromatherapy. Some aromatherapy preparations are given below for dandruff cure.
