Cutting Your Own Hair

Feeling really experimental? Feel like getting a new haircut but don’t want to go to the parlor? Well, you could always cut your hair at home. Yes, yourself!

Well, a lot of people cut their own hair at home. You might not be able to do the more fashionable haircuts but you can always reduce the length of your hair or get bangs or even do a layer cut. You just need to be experimental and daring and also have the patience.

How to go about it:

You will need scissors, two mirrors, a comb and a water sprayer is your hair is dry.

At first spray your hair wet if it is not dry. The best would be to cut freshly washed hair. It is easier that way. Then slowly comb out your hair.

Now decide on what you want to do with your hair. You should go about the process with a definite plan in your head.

Trimming:

Part your hair into two halves. Now take a few strands of hair from one side. Comb it to the front and onto your hands. Pick the place where you’d like to cut and place your fingers there. Now cut half an inch. Don’t be drastic with the cutting.

Now with the measurement of the cut hair, cut the rest of the hair taking a few strands at a time. To check whether they are even, match the two sides of the hair. Don’t go on cutting hair to make it perfectly even. It is not possible. You might end up loosing a lot more of your length than you intended to.

Use double mirrors to cut the back portion of your hair that you cannot pull out in front.

Layers:

Take different sections of hair and cut them at an angle at different lengths. This time too, divide your hair into two parts. Match the layers on both sides of your hair.

If you want bangs, just divide the front portion of your hair and cut it to the desired length. You could place the scissors at an angle and make it look even better.

Don’t worry, give it a try, even if it turns out bad, it will grow back for sure.
