Controlling Hair loss
The causes of hair loss are plenty and some of the hairfall reasons are very trivial. A look at some of the common mistakes will give you an insight about the causes of hair fall and ways to prevent it.
1) Washing hair frequently strips the hair of its PH Balance and makes it dry and brittle. If you have naturally oily hair then don’t rub the hair vigorously as this will stimulate the oil glands and they will produce more sebum. Also do not rub your hair vigorously with a towel since it roughens the hair cuticle and can make your hair frizzy.
2) Trim your hair every 6 weeks, since the tip of your hair is weaker than the root and weak hair tips can lead to split ends and breakage.
3) Overheating hair caused due to blow drying and flat ironing can damage your hair, it also takes away life from the hair. It is best to let the hair dry naturally, if you still feel the need for blow drying then use a leave-in conditioner before drying and keep the hair dryer at least 6 inches away from the hair. Also do not dry the hair completely, dry it up to 80% with a dryer and let 20% of the damp hair dry naturally. Limit your usage of iron to occasions, don’t make it a habit.
4) Do not leave any traces of shampoo or conditioner in your hair, everyday pollutants leave a thin coat of grime which weighs down the hair. It is good to use a clarifying shampoo once in a week, it removes all the residues from the hair and makes your hair fresh and clean.
5) Remember that hair is a vital part of your personality so be careful with what you do to your hair. It is advisable to visit a professional for any chemical treatment like rebonding, perming etc. Do not settle for cheap local salons.
