Combat Hairloss

Hair loss once triggered can be difficult to control, there are various causes of hair loss these days and it affects all age groups. To contain hair fall it is important to identify the cause of the same. At times, the cause of hair fall is so trivial that with little awareness you could control your hair loss and not freak about it.

One of the most common cause of hair loss is the lack of awareness about the hair type. We often get confused with the type of hair we have and end up using the wrong products for hair. Identifying hair type may sound difficult but is not all that tough, it can be done at home.

There are 4 types of hair and each has some properties which can be used to identify the hair type.

1) Normal - Normal hair is usually shiny but doesn’t look greasy. The texture is soft and the hair is manageable. It has less breakage and split ends, usually normal hair is strong.

2) Oily – Oily hair looks greasy and requires frequent shampooing to keep it squeaky clean. It is at its best when shampooed but get limpy in a day or two after shampooing. The hair strands stick to each other and the hair clings in sections. Oily hair is also prone to dandruff.

3) Dry – Dry hair is very brittle, it can get frizzy and is difficult to manage. Dryness is caused by under production of natural oils in the scalp. This type of hair breaks easily and also leads to split ends.

4) Combination hair - This is a combination of oily scalp and dry hair that’s why the name combination hair. The hair shaft is very dry and brittle but the scalp produces oil to make the roots oily. The best way to deal with this kind of hair is to use a shampoo meant for oily hair and a conditioner meant for dry hair.
