Combat Hair Damage Due To Holi
With the season of colours hitting us in the spring, it is that time of the year when you let the child inside you take over. “Holi”, the Indian festival of colours is here and we surely want to play around. But what do we about our hair?
Well, fret not, we have some simple home remedies for post holi hair care. Holi has been celebrated since time immemorial, and smearing colour or gulal was a great way to enjoy. Earlier the colours that were temporary, but these days there are these dangerous chemical based colours which can ruin your hair.
Some of the colours can give you hair fall, while others will change the original colour of your hair. The traditional colour – Gulal is safe but the safest type of colours are the ones that are made from vegetables, flowers and plants. They are absolutely safe and you can indulge in them without any fear. However, if you don’t trust the quality of the colours used, then play safe.
Before stepping out, oil your hair thoroughly with a heavy oil, like coconut oil mixed with a little castor oil. This will form a coat on your hair, the thin film will prevent the colour from penetrating your hair shaft. Apply oil generously and then go out and play. Having played with the colours, it is essential to remove the colour completely.
Rinse hair with plain water, don’t apply shampoo from the first rinse. Allow the colour to run away with running water. Now, use a shampoo, mix the shampoo with some water before applying. Massage your scalp for at least 2 minutes, to remove all impurities, use your finger tips to massage the scalp. Follow it with a conditioner.
Later in the day, give your hair a revitaliszing treat. Beat 2 eggs and mix with curd and glycerine. Apply this paste on your hair and leave it for 20 minutes, then shampoo as usual. It will revitalize your damaged tresses.
