Coconut oil is the mother of all oils when it comes to hair care. Coconut oil contains medium chain fats, these fats are found in lauric oils and are similar to fats in mother’s milk. Virgin coconut oil contains lots of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. Virgin coconut oil is extracted from fresh coconuts without any chemical processes. There are many benefits of coconut.This virgin oil is a major source of Lauric acid and Vitamin E, it prevents dandruff and hair loss. It has emollient properties and soothes dry and frizzy hair. It also protects the skin from infections caused by bacteria, virus and fungus.
Coconut oil does not occur naturally, the white flesh when pressed yields an odorous solid fat which contains therapeutic properties. To obtain coconut oil, this fat is subjected to heat and the top liquid fraction is removed. Coconut oil should be applied at least twice in a week for healthy lustrous hair.
When consumed internally as a part of the regular diet, coconut can protect you against many diseases. It increases the body’s resistance towards diseases. Studies conducted on people who live in tropical areas, reveal that those who incorporate coconut and coconut oil in their daily diet have fewer incidences of heart disease, cancer, digestive disorder and prostrate problems.

Coconut oil improves the quality of hair, acts as a conditioner, promotes metabolism, heals the skin and scalp and helps strengthen the defend mechanism of our body.
One of the best ways of applying coconut oil is by warming the oil and using a cotton wool to apply on the scalp. Next is to wrap a hot towel over the head, this allows deeper penetration of the oil. Repeat this hot towel wrap method at least 2 to 3 times and preferably apply oil in the night, shampoo your hair next morning.
