Causes of Hair Fall

Hair fall can occur due to a number of causes. It is this important to identify the exact cause of hair loss to treat it permanently. Though a good diet and exercise can help improve the quality of hair and prevent hair loss, but some factors need medication. It is good to eat protein which can be found in meat, chicken, fish, eggs, some cheese, dried beans, tofu, grains, and nuts. It is said that losing 50 to 100 strands of hair everyday is normal but if this type of hair shedding makes your hair appear scanty then it should be treated seriously.

Causes of hair fall:

1) Post pregnancy hair fall – During pregnancy, the hair grows continuously and the normal hair loss of 50 to 100 strands is also contained. However, after childbirth the hair enters resting stage and all the hair start to fall in a short span of 2 to 3 months. This kind of hair fall is normal and the woman should prepare herself for it.

2) Illness – Ailments often cause hairloss. If you suffer from high fever, severe infection, major surgery, thyroid, diabetes, hormonal imbalance then hair fall is bound to be. Under such conditions no amount of hair massage will help, the exact cause needs to be identified and treated. Chemotherapy also causes severe hair fall, cold compress can be used on the scalp to prevent blood circulation so that the hair doesn’t fall out.

3) Scalp infections – Skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, ring worm, fungal infections, infection due to head lice can cause hair loss. The hair fall is usually in patches i.e. the area of the scalp which is infected and the skin turns red and scaly. It can also itch if the condition is bad.

4) Other causes – Some other causes like use of birth control pills, iron deficiency, malnutrition also cause hair fall.
