Care for Wigs
There are broadly 2 types of wigs, namely human hair wig and synthetic wig. Though human hair wig is costlier than synthetic but it is comfortable to wear and feels natural. Infact it is possible to get a shade that exactly matches your hair and if you cannot find one then you get it custom made for you. Human hair behaves naturally and doesn’t itch while wearing.
Though maintenance wise it is a little tedious as compared to Synthetic wig. Synthetic wig is of 2 types the classic one and mono – filament one, the latter is a bit expensive but has superior quality. Synthetic wig doesn’t require any styling or maintenance as natural hair wig but it should be kept away from heat or heated instruments so you cannot style it with curling irons or flat irons.
It is important to take care of the wig inorder to increase its life and maintain the quality.
1) Use a wig brush to gently brush the wig and remove the tangles.
2) Wash your wig with shampoo meant specially for wigs, do not use hot water. Use cold water and do not rub while washing, also rinse the shampoo thoroughly. You should wash your wigs after 10 to 13 wears.
3) Dry the wig naturally do not use a hair dryer and never comb it when wet, style it with your finger tips.
4) Apply a light conditioner and that too very lightly or you may damage the texture.
5) Do not colour or bleach your wig.
6) Always keep your wig on a stand meant for it, do not put it on any other object since it can spoil the shape of the wig.
7) Do not use products meant for human hair on synthetic wigs and vice versa. For example a synthetic wig would require a hair brush or comb that has rubber tips so that there is no splitting.
