Beautiful Skin Minus Zits

Acne or Zits are the most unsightly thing to ever happen to you. Apart from being a physical condition, acne has a psychological impact too. Decreased self-confidence and low self esteem being the most common ones. Acne is even known to cause depression and social withdrawal. Most teenagers fear that their complexion will be destroyed and this will cause trouble in choosing a life partner or getting a job.  Friends and family should constantly re-assure the patient that acne is curable. Just consult a dermatologist.

Acne affects men and women equally but there is a difference in the pattern. Men are more likely to have more severe, longer lasting forms of acne. Similarly, young women are more likely to have intermittent acne due to hormonal changes associated with their menstrual cycle and due to cosmetics.

There are some products that are known to aggravate acne.

1) Oils from skin products such as moisturisers or cosmetics, increases acne. So does grease encountered in the work environment, for example kitchen.

2) Usage of compact helmets, back packs, tight collars, tight clothes are also reasons for worsening existing acne.

3) Pollution and humidity can also cause zits.

There are ways to control and fight against acne. Wash your face twice daily with soap and water to remove excess oil. Avoid excessive use of makeup. Pick water based cosmetics, instead of oil based ones. Look for the word non-comedogenic on any product before you use it. It means that the product will neither cause nor worsen acne.

It is a popular misconception that acne is caused by chocolates, pastries, fried food, etc. The truth is that no eatables can cause acne, but a balanced and healthy diet can keep a check  on this condition. Fruits, vegetables, sprouts and juices will give you a great skin.
