Beautiful Skin at 30’s
November 13, 2008
Ageing starts much earlier than we believe, we often fear thirties because this is the time when the signs of ageing show up on the skin. But the truth is that ageing starts as early as twenties, the fine lines are not visible to the naked eye. The effects of ageing are visible in the later years but the lines start developing as early as twenty years of age.
The first signs of ageing appear in the form of fine lines (around eyes) and enlarged pores. The risk of developing spider veins and pigmentation also increases. Together, this results in the skin looking dull and aged. To combat this, switch to a PH balanced face wash and a moisturizer which suits your skin tone. Regular use of sunscreen with SPF 15 is important since it will help prevent freckles and sun spots. Regular exercise results in the release of endorphins which gives the skin a glow. Fruit peels, glycolic peels and alpha - hydroxy peels, which should be administered by a trained dermatologist help restore the skin’s sheen.
Towards mid thirties, as wrinkles become apparent, botox dermal fillers, stronger peels, help tighten the skin. However, all these procedures carry risks and must be performed only by a trained dermatologist who may suggest a patch test to rule out an adverse action. Hormones also influence organs throughout the body and regulate their normal functioning.
At puberty the ovaries produce 2 female hormones - estrogen and progesterone and one male hormone - androgen. Gradually, as a woman approaches mid life, the production of hormones slows dowwn and stops altogether at menopause. Few lifestyle changes can also improve the quality of skin and health. Changes such as regular walking, exposure to Vitamin D (15 to 20 minutes of sunshine everyday), weight bearing exercises and calcium, folic acid and Vitamin C supplements can go a long way.
