Bacterial Skin Infections

Many people face different kinds of skin infections. Skin infections may be caused due to bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites. Both the inner layer and the outer layer of the skin can be infected. Skin infections may result into blisters, rashes and sores.

There may intense burning, pain and itching in the infected areas. If the skin infection is of mild nature, it can be easily treated with the help of over the counter available treatments. However, in case of severe and harsh skin infections, medical treatment may be required.

Athlete’s foot

Athlete’s foot is a skin infection that occurs between toes, resulting in cracking, peeling, itching and scaling of the skin. Such a kind of skin infection can even spread to sides and soles of feet, thus causing redness, dryness and scaling of the skin.

Jock itch

Jock itch is a kind of skin infection affecting both women and men. Itchy rashes with red border are found in groin area in this kind of skin infection.

Nail fungus

Nail fungus occurs most of the time in fingernails and causes thickening and yellowing of the nails. The nails affected by nail fungus tend to break easily.

Ringworm

Ringworm is a kind of skin infection that occurs due to contact with contaminated soil or any infected animal. In this kind of skin infection, ring shaped skin patches are observed on the skin. The skin looks scaly and red and there is lot of itching on the skin.

Scalp ringworm

Scalp ringworm is a skin infection that is most of the times found in children. Patchy spots are seen on the skin in this kind of skin infection. The skin appears to be scaly. Temporary hair loss is also witnessed in this kind of skin infection.

Yeast infection

In this kind of skin infection, brown and red spots are seen on the skin. This infection affects the mouth, rectal area and underarms.

In order to deal with skin infections such as jock itch, athlete’s foot, and ringworm, there are many over the counter medicines and creams available in the market. Bacterial infections such as yeast infection can be treated by application of tea tree oil on the infected area. Intake of plenty of yogurt is also a good solution for bacterial infections.
