All About Nail Art

Nail art has its origins in the tribal community, the woman in that era used to decorate their nails with nail piercing and painting. Though the art has developed over the years and has entered the salons with chic designs and innovations but its roots date centuries ago. Modern nail art uses gem stones, crystals, graphic designs, geometric prints, decoration with flowers and petals, stickers, digital nail art etc. there are plenty of options in nail art. Though stickers and gemstones do not require creating designs with dry nail brushes, but other drawings like geometric prints, graphics, leaves, petals etc require special nail brushes for drawing.

There are various brushes available for nail art, these are usually made of natural or synthetic hair. We take you through the types of brushes and its uses.

1) Fan brush - This brush is made either of natural or synthetic hair. It is ideal for application of different colours of nail polish, so if you want to play with colours then this is the brush you need to use.

2) Striper brush - Stripper brush is made of synthetic hair and is available in 3 sizes, short, medium and long. The longer one is used for drawing a straight line and is ideal for graphic designs. Medium length is used for drawing curves like petals and flowers and the shorter one is meant for detailed designs.

3) Curved brush - Made from natural hair, this type of brush is meant for drawing circles and complex 8 digit shapes.

4) Angular long and short brush - Both are made of synthetic hair. The long brush is used for working with acrylic paints and coloured gels. The short one is used to create smaller flowers and leaves.

5) Flat brush - This brush is ideal for mixing nail polish, for drawing large leaves and flowers and for acrylic paints.

6) The two way dots brush - This brush has metallic ball shaped tips and is used to create designs with dots.
