A Lousy Problem
Often we find that our head is very itchy and non-responsive to all treatments. We may try and fight dandruff and other problems, but this one just won’t go away. Check for lice.
Lice are little bugs found in the hair that multiply at an alarming rate. Lice feed on the blood while living in the scalp.
While the problem of lice is not a very grave one in terms of the damage it does to the hair, if it not treated in time, it could have effects that can be impacting. Even socially, the prevalence of lice in the hair can be quite an embarrassing situation.
Lice are most commonly spread through contact. Make sure you trust the people you move around with. Lice are found more often in women than in men. They flourish in longer, thicker hair and are hence more popular among females.
The biggest problem about lice is that they are very difficult to get rid of completely. Fighting lice though, is not too complicated. Anti-lice products are easily available today. Use a good anti-lice shampoo and oil combined. This might require several applications before you get rid of all lice from the hair. Remember though that along with the lice there are also several eggs that you will have deposited along the hair roots. You will have to rid your hair of these too. This might take longer than you anticipate. A home remedy that you might also like to couple with using shampoos is the use of oil mixed with camphor. Camphor is an ingredient that not only checks the spread of lice but also helps in the case of itching.
When fighting lice, there are a number of other problems that could also arise. The itchiness in the scalp could cause dandruff. Also, since there are eggs that are deposited at the root there could be some hair fall. Try and be attentive to these problems and treat them either simultaneously or immediately after you have treated the lice.
Fighting lice is more a nag than a major problem. Keep your hair clean and that’s half the battle won against protecting your hair from lice.
