A Comb For All Hair

Running a brush or comb through the hair is a task we most often undertake almost unconsciously. It’s just something that has to be done after dressing up, and before leaving home.

Besides removing tangles and setting the hair, brushing is actually an exercise that greatly helps in stimulating hair growth. As the brush or comb is run through the hair, it improves circulation and opens pores, fostering hair growth.

We often spend almost no time in deciding what comb or brush to buy. The nicest looking brush is generally what is carelessly tossed into the shopping basket. The use of improper combs or brushes does more harm than good to the hair.

The use of a comb that is hard and sharp can be very damaging. Sharp ends of a comb can wound the scalp and cause scabs that could bleed. Coarse combs can cause more split ends and cause hair to break faster. The texture of the hair can also be ruined by the use of a poor comb, which could leave the hair looking frayed.

Select a comb or brush that has blunt, soft ends. Make sure the teeth of the comb are strong and do not break easily. Also ensure that the teeth are slightly flexible and move along with the motion made through the hair while combing.

Use a wide-toothed comb when removing knots from the hair. Not only is this more effective, but also prevents breakage while removing tangles. The finer end of the comb can be used to set the hair and put it in place. Combs with very fine teeth can be used to form partitions and for styling the hair. While using a brush, opt for a broad, flat brush with supple bristles and blunt ends. Use the roller brush only for styling the hair.

For those who thought buying a brush was a no-brainer, there’s a whole world to explore. With a little attention paid to buying the right comb, you can brush aside all troubles.
